The camera obscura between art and science, play and create with the light of a dark room.

At the tower on the left of the Santivales fort is the camera obscura (XIX c.). Thanks to a  set of lenses and mirrors you can see in total darkness, without being seen, the images from the outside such as the square and the streets in real movements.

The camera obscura is in one of the corner towers overlooking the entrance to the castle, where reputedly the contessa could scutinise visitors prior to entry. The optics consist of a meniscus prism which forms an image on a concave screen mounted on a low table. The chamber has a round wall with the system replicated on the opposite side.
