In 2014 Jenny Duffin and Pete Ashton built a prototype camera obscura on wheels out of random junk and took it around Birmingham to see what people thought of it. They liked it a lot! So they made plans for a much better camera.

This new camera was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign in December 2014 and it’s out in public from July 2015. It was built by Matthew Moore, a carpenter based at Minerva Works in Digbeth. The mirror and lens housing was generously donated by Tim Norgate of Pinhole Solutions in Bearwood.

All of them share the desire to see a permanent camera obscura in Birmingham.
