The technology behind the Camera Obscura, the reflection of light into a dark space, creating a projected image, it is more than 1,000 years old. How do you make that feel new in 2016 for kids who are accustomed to high-tech screens that fit in their pockets? That was the challenge the we faced when creating Lights, Camera, Color: Exploring the Camera Obscura, a reinvented exhibit on the Museum’s third floor.

Lights, Camera, Color: Exploring the Camera Obscura

It’s the third floor like you’ve never seen it before! We’ve reimagined this nationally recognized exhibit to make it more accessible (and tons of fun!) for visitors of all ages. Dance with your shadow and see how many colors you can make against the light wall. Most exciting, our periscopic camera obscura – the unique installation that draws visitors from around the world – is now open all day, so you can see this phenomenon any time you visit!.
